SURGERY TYPES > GENERAL SURGERY
The EndoGrab retraction system has been utilized in numerous types of general surgeries. Listed below are examples of these surgeries and information on the application of the EndoGrab. For more information or questions on a specific type of surgery, please contact us.
LAPAROSCOPIC CHOLECYSTECTOMY
Laparoscopic cholecystectomy provides a safe and effective treatment for most patients with symptomatic gallstones and has become the treatment of choice for many patients.
The EndoGrab enables further advancement in this surgery by allowing the surgeon to retract the gallbladder, and thereby the liver, to provide for easy access to the cystic duct and cystic artery. This internally anchored retractor eliminates the need for a manual retraction port, reduces scaring and postoperative pain.
LAPAROSCOPIC NISSEN AND TOUPENT FUNDOPLICATION
Patients who suffer severe heartburn often have incomplete relief of their heartburn with medical treatment. For these patients Nissen or Toupet Fundoplication surgery treats the reflux by making a new valve mechanism at the lower esophagus as a barrier to reflux.
During the operation, the surgeon can use EndoGrab to retract the gallblatter, thereby the liver, by attaching the gallbladder to the abdominal cavity. This will expose the junction between the stomach and the esophagus so the surgery can proceed with a clear operating field. By using an internally anchored retraction system, surgeons can reduce the number of ports need for surgery, which ultimately results in reduced scaring and less associated postoperative pain.
